Volunteer/Work Experience 2
The work of the volunteer is very important. First, it can help somebody who has trouble.
Second, it gives us a way to devote to the society.
What’s more, it gives everyone a hope that we can do more things for others.
So the volunteer is a hero for me.
This holiday, I worked as a volunteer in my mother works in hospital, Nanjing No.1 hospital. I learned by watching experienced nurses working. They all had train before the work and worked skillfully. I also help some hospital workers carry medicines, after that work, I realized all the work in the hospital are not very easy, all the work need ourselves try our best, a bit of mistake maybe cause a death. It was very severity, so we need very careful during the work.
My major duty is to provide help to nurses and to show the way to the patient. Injection is duty of the nurses. Before the injections, the skin where to be injected is need antisepsis. There were so many patients were waiting for injections and therefore nurses were so busy that some patients became angry. I helped patient to antisepsis. I dipped cotton bud to into pharmaceutical purposes and smudged it on the arms of patients. Then nurses started to inject. The work became effective due to our collaboration.
Sometimes, there were some patients who got lost and couldn’t find the way to the right doctors such as the elderly. I always directed them the right way. In other peoples’ eyes, it maybe a very easy work, but when I was doing this work, I just realized it was very hard, because I must know all the ways in the building of hospital, the ways are very complex, I can’t remember very well, and I can’t ask too much time during the time while I find the way, so, sometimes I was very discomfiture because I can’t find the right direction. It was a really hard work.
During my work, I found that there are a few problems. For example, the patients cannot accept medical treatment if they are lack of money. It is responsibility of the whole society to save lives of people who are in danger. The government should give grant to hospital to save poor people and ensure their health.
I think ministry of education should take knowledge of medicine bring into education like junior high school biology and geography. In the other hand, we should make more doctors develop some chairs to popularization the knowledge of medicine. I think it can help more people have a better realize when they to see doctors.
After two- day work, I find that I am satisfied to become a volunteer because I achieved my self-value. Furthermore, I contributed to the whole society even if my strength is limited. However, I trust that if anyone could put their a little bit effort to the society, the world would become more harmonious.
Volunteers believe that some of the happiest people in the world are those who help to bring happiness to others.
I think the student should be a volunteer. First, it can train them how to help others, and learn more knowledge out of the book.
Second, it gives them a way to build a harmonious society. Third, after doing it they will feel happier than others.

Go to a performance
There was a performance in our school. It’s a fashion show. Before the show, we had to make three kinds of clothes by ourselves: school uniform, evening dress and sportswear. The fashion show would hold at 6 o’clock, on 27th, April, 2009. We tried our best to make the clothes more beautiful. The time went by so quickly. Soon, the fashion show was coming,
At the beginnings of the fashion show. N.J group was having street dancing for us. Such as popping, locking and so on, they danced very well. Then, the fashion show was beginning,. Some people seemed beautiful, some seemed cute and some seemed funny. There were three persons who I would never forget.
First, we saw a boy whose name is sky walking to us. He was wearing fashionable school uniform. He seems to be lovely. Next, a person who wears sportswear was doing some poses in front of us. He looked very funny. We were all laughing at that time. Finally, we saw an elegant lady coming to us. She looked very beautiful. When she comes closely, we found she was our teacher, Ms Chu, a person who comes from Hong Kong. At the end of the show, we cheered for ourselves. The fashion show was lasting about one hour.
I felt very excited that day. I like it very much because we made the clothes by ourselves, we have experienced the happiness of it and the teachers were our models. They were wear clothes and showed them in front of all the people. And also, I understand the different clothes on different persons look different.

On the 19th April 2009, I went to the vocal concert of Jay Chou. Jay Chou is a very popular singer from Tai Wan of china. He is only a man not like other group in asia, but he is more popular than other group, i think because he has the special voice and very cool appearance.
He show began with a song "Shuang Jie Gun", He stood in cine on the stage, and all the members who were sitting on the seats were shouting and screaming at the time. I was deeply moved by the movement which Jay Chou sang the song "Father, i'm caming" with all spectators together. Before the song, He said:” every time we have show, the most touching moment is sing the song " The rainbow" with you together. Now, sing it together.
Then the music began, whether you could speak area's language of Tai Wan, He started at the words on the big screen and sing the song which he had listened for hundred times. We moved our hands during the song, many people cried at that time because it was a sad song. The song made us think of the way we walked together, during the way, we smiled, cried and sad… it was unforgettable for everyone.
He was also very fun. He spoke funny jokes, wore funny clothes, danced funny dance with the music“bang bang bang.”The show was lasting for about 3 hours, but we still felt it was too short for us to stay with our heroes. In the other hand, I felt so happy, because I saw my best love, Jay Chou.

Religious Service
In the 3rd of May, I went to the st.pole church. The church is at the south of the TaiPing road, I attend the religious service on time at 1:30 p.m. I thought I am very lucky.
I thought I don’t like this religion because in my memory, church is a very quiet place. However, in my eyes, it is a place where is very noisy, I can’t hear the voice of pray or the voice from the minister. I went to there because I thought god is very sacred, I want to take the love from the god and know some knowledge about Catholicism, but in that way, I thought I can’t know some useful information.
Then the divine service has begun, most of people sang the song, I can’t understand because I was the first went to the church, I felt very boring, I don’t what to do, how to do, I never read some books about god or Catholicism, even bible. The Catholicism is the most widely communion in the world, I thought it is the best way to learn other country’s culture.
Very boring until the stage had a drama play, it was a bit of fun, it just about a Easter story. A Visit of Nanjing Museum
I went to Nanjing museum on 3.14 with Sherry, Penny and 10F students. I chose this museum to visit because it free to people and it is the biggest museum in the Nanjing, the third big museum in the country
The museum has two floors. The first floor has Folk Art, Ancient Bronze, Ming and Qing porcelain, Lecture Room, Ancient Treasure, Ancient Chinese Earthen Ware, Guan Zhi Tang Café and Courtyard. The second floor has Modern Art Hall, Calligraphy and Painting Hall, Fabric and Embroidery Hall, Ancient Chinese Jade, Ancient Chinese Lacquer. The kinds of exhibit are very integrity. I like Fabric and Embroidery Hall most.
Chinese invents silkworm raising, filature and silk-weaving firstly in the world. The embroidery is not only the pure solid thing but also the valued artwork now, holding the important status in the Chinese art history.
My favorite exhibit is a big loom which was made in Ming dynasty. It is long 5.6m, width1.4m and 4m high. I think it is very big. It has 14000 cotton threads on it. It is unique in the world. Up to the present, no machinery can fill in it.
I like this exhibition, it was very interesting. I can learn lots of knowledge about anciently, I can know Chinese antiquity people’s wisdom. Cloud Brocade appears nearly 1600 years Chinese culture, it can cause us have more ideals about art and it let me know the development of the Chinese art, it can bring up the ardor of us to create more beautiful life and improve my taste ability. I love this museum.

A Meal with My Friend
I went to TACOS, a Mexico restaurant with my friend Cindy, who is in Class 10F, to have lunch on March 8th. This restaurant is on the Zhujiang Road. We arrived there at about 12:00 a.m.
I have ever eaten there with Grade12 students, and I felt the food there were delicious. Therefore, I still chose this restaurant. The food on the menu appealed to me a lot. While it was hard to make a decision of what to eat, I wanted to eat something different from the last time I went there. Finally I ordered some sausage rolls, a glass of juice and some other Mexican special dishes, which looked like Chinese battercake with beef and flavorings between different layers. All the food tasted hot, and I like this kind of food because it can make me have a good stomach. The food I usually eat taste mild, but the Mexican food have a strong taste, I think this is the big difference between them.
There were many foreigners and businessmen eating there that day. They chatted with each other so the atmosphere there was noisy. It played some soft music in the restaurant, however, you can feel relax and comfortable. The food in the restaurant are very healthy, and all the dishes were very clean. I didn’t need to worry about it. The service was good in the restaurant, and all the waiters and waitresses were very polite to us. They always kept smiling on their face.
I think it is a very good restaurant so I will introduce more classmates and friends to eat there.

School club/Organization
This term I joined two clubs, such as TV series club and basketball club. Now, I want to tell you about TV series. In this club, we always have a good time because we can watch lots of funny TV series and some interesting movies. We can learn lots of arguments from the movies. These arguments are the value of our life. All of things will help me to live in this world better.
Each class we only have one hour, so the time in this club was valuable. We caught the time possibly. The first time, we watched famous TV series, “prison break”. All the club members love this program; the main character was a handsome man. His name is Michael Scoffed. He got into the prison because he wanted to save his brother. His brother was sinless, but in this centenary, lots of things were unfair, we can’t change that appearance, however, we can by my effort to change our destiny. The main character always walk around the prison to know well about the way of prison and drew the map of prison. This is a process for him overcame challenges. From this program, we can also know how to use our wisdom in the life to help ourselves prevail difficult.
Then, we watched Hollywood famous big movie “Kung Fu Panda”. This movie was very funny, all the members laugh loudly when we watched the movie. This movie said a story of a panda who want to good at kung fu, but this panda is fat, not have good talent to study kung fu. But another important character, pitch on him. In the beginning, the panda can’t believe all the things, he had not confidence. But the disaster was coming. The panda had not have confidence to good at kung fu. His teacher found if panda want to eat, he will have quick actions. So he use his hobby to exercise him study kung fu. In the end of the story, panda knew all the things were very simple and he had beaten the enemy. He is a kung fu panda. From this movie, we knew in our life, if we want to have successful, we must be insist effort. This quality is very important for us. If we were lazy, I think we will know this world not have free lunch. We must insist study hard, we can success. Believe yourself!
I know lots of things from the TV and activities of this club always help me understand the morality of movie better. I also have some good new friend, because we have the same hobby, we like the same program; we can have the same topic in the class. So, this is a very happy time for me, because, not only I felt happy, but also I know a lot of morality of the world. I can have new and better life in the GCA. I interested in TV series club very much. I will join in this club next term too.

At last year, I was a volunteer for the drama ‘The taming of the shrew’. My job was painted the wall. Then the show ended, I got the verification from Ms. Mitschrich.
About 20 people help teachers painted the wall. First, we cut the big paper to the rectangle. Then, we drew the grain of brick with green. At last, we padded grey on the paper. We used brush and paint to finish this work and all the work we just used three colors---green, grey and black. We used green to draw lines, grey to pad the bricks and black to play up bricks. When we finished the wall we can’t believe our eyes. It is like the real one. We also believed the walls will help this show get a big success. The process of painted, because all of us were beginner, we made so many mistakes. But we make concerted effort; these problems were solved at last. Someone painted the bricks too dark and someone who drew lines irregular, too many mistakes. But we helped each other to solve these problems. At last, we waited the wall dry, then, the walls were done. All the work we spend about 2 hours. We felt very tired but very happy.
During this work, I learned everyone in a group should have their own value. Only everyone did their own work carefully, the product will prefect. If we are in a group with 3 or 4 persons, we should do the work together and listen others suggestions because we can’t finish it by ourselves. Everyone should have confident and power to do this work. Also, if each group had a good leader, I think the work will be become easier. A good leader should know the ability of everyone. Then give everyone work to finish, only in this way, we can finish all the work in a quick time.
Teamwork is very important in our life, from this work, we can learn team spirit, we can have a happy time, we can finish the work wonderfully. In the work, we help each other when someone had problems. We can know friendship gradually.
We can use our skill what we study from art class in this work. Contrast and shadow were important skill in this work, we should painted color carefully, the amount of color can’t use too much or too little. We hoped this work should be prefect. It was very funny. All of us had fun from this work. We can learn lots of things to help our life。
This was a valuable experience for volunteer. When we saw the characters on the stage use scenes which one made by us, I really felt happy in my heart. I can’t have money from this work, but I have learnt lots of things. These things can help me have a good future. Thanks teacher gave me a good chance to practice me. Teamwork was the most important thing I learned. I will remember it forever and implement it successful.

PhysicalActivity (10 hours due by Feb. 8)
This term, I joined school basketball club and I was a member of GCA basketball team. So, I love playing basketball and I am good at playing basketball. At the school, I played basketball once a week. Totally I have got about 20 hours for my physical activities.
Every Wednesday, when I finished school, our club will have some activity to trial our ability; our club teacher Mr. Saxby will choose several persons to join the school basketball team. Mr. Saxby is a very professional basketball coach; I always learnt some practical skills from him. He teaches me how to defend and make us have more power in the match. On the match, I was a center, much time I often must be control the rebound, I have 1.90 meters tall, I have taller height in the same age children, Mr. Saxby always taught me how to control the ball better, I can improve my basketball skill.
Our team had 15 people, we were like a family, when we played a match, we can’t miss someone in the team, because we are integrated, we are a team. I’m grade 10 member of the team, I was the smallest member of the team, and all the grade11 and grade12 members have more experience than me. So I must be work hard. I played basketball every day after school with my classmates, I can felt happy and exercise my body. I can use some skills which I learnt form the teacher, then I can use these skills more practiced, at last I can got more points in the match. So, I love playing basketball, I can get happy from the practice.
In October 2008, we have 2 matches with Nanjing foreign language school and Jiaxing GCA. The first match, in the beginning, we played very bad, I think because this was the first match we have, all the members in the beginning can’t unleash our truth standard. But at the last 10 minutes, we have several good attacks. In the end, we lost 3 points. The second match, we prepared it enough, we played this match very relaxed, so we won this match easily. During the match, I know some new ways to use my skills and I understand teamwork is very important, basketball are 5 people’s sport, not 1 people’s sport, we must pass the ball to your teammate, we should have more chance to win the match. I will remember it.
I have known a lot of new friends in the team, I think not only play basketball can help me keep fit, but also play with good friends is also a way for you have happiness when you exercise. Good mood always make people healthier. This experience was good for our life; we will have more wonderful university life, and make us more and more health in the future.
If we don’t like exercise, we will become fat, if you are a boy, you can’t attract the sight of heterosexual, if you are a girl, and nobody is possible to love you. So, in order to our future, please get more exercise.

Wu Weishan's sculpture at the exhibition
We went to Nanjing University to see an exhibition on Dec 4th. The artist Wu Weishan made a lot of artworks. There were a lot of artworks made by Wu Weishan. These artworks are both contemporary and traditional.
We saw some of the artworks at the entrance of the museum first. I like the artwork which is called SLEEPING BABY. This artwork was made in 1998. When Wu went to his friend home, he saw the sleeping baby. This artwork is small in size. This artwork was made by bronze, and it is brown. It is a shape of a baby’s head. The subject of this artwork is the baby who was sleeping. The baby was opening his mouth and rising his head.
I felt harmonious when I saw this artwork. The baby was sleeping. He may be having a beautiful dream. Beautiful dream is the spirit of this artwork. This artwork lets me related purity. When the baby is sleeping, he does not know anything. He has a sweet dream. He does not the darkness of the world. He just has peace in his world.
I like this artwork, because it is contemporary. I feel relaxed when I saw this artwork. It is very amazing, Mr. Wu use soil to make the artwork. Even though the child’s face looks a little bit rough, but the line of his face still very clearly. The child’s mouth has a little open. It may sleep deeply and sweet. I like this artwork, because I think in this child’s dream may have another nice world. I also want to have a sweet dream which baby have. He has no things he needs to worry about. When I stood in front of this artwork, I could not speak very loudly. I am really afraid of damaging this child’s nice dream. May be other people will not like this artwork. I asked some friends ,one of them told me ,he do not like this artwork. He said he felt the child just like a dead person. Also it is not very lovely. It is not active.
From the exhibition I learn how to critique an art work. It includes DESCRIBE, INTERPRET and JUDGE. We also need to know how the artist’s feeling and what the intention that artist thinking. We learn how to find the art in our life, the most beautiful art in our life should us to use heart to understand. This exhibition is meaningful. I love this exhibition. I am so admire Wu Weishan. He is a great person. He can find the spirit of the objects. Chinese traditional art is to show the spirit of the artwork. Wu Weishan uses his wisdom to show Chinese culture to the world. He uses his artwork to influence people. His artworks show the wish of people. Art is an great thing.
The dinner with Grade 12 Mentors
We had a dinner with Grade 12 students on December 23rd.We ate at the Mexico restaurant TACOS. We had wanted to go to another Mexico restaurant, but that restaurant had not opening. So we went to TACOS. TACOS is not very expensive for the students and near the NFLS We met at the TACOS maybe at 6:30 clock. Then we order food for dinner.
This restaurant is very beautiful. I thought everyone in it will have a good dinner for themselves because of atmosphere. The menu of food is very beautiful. I ordered a 9 inches pizza with Edward and Chris, a glass of juice and Sausage Rolls. However, the real food was not like on the menu. Maybe fewer than the menu. Also, the flavor of food was very salt, I didn’t like this feel. The waiter just had little work for us and very impolite, We waited for 30 minutes. It didn’t as well as Chinese food restaurant.
This restaurant is clean and quiet. It have lots of beautiful art piece. The toilet is very interesting. We felt not cold in it. I should say, the environment of restaurant was prefect. But i thought the polite of waiters should be improve. Food was delicious for us. We like this area!
I learnt how to use fork and knife and the different between the Chinese and Mexico. This is a value chance to help me to learnt more about western culture. Grade 12th students were polite for us and talked many funny things in GCA. I really like this dinner!!
